List of human qualities to highlight in your CV

Many of us fear the moment when we will have to write our CV. How to present it? What to include? Can you write your CV as you want, or do you have to follow a model? So many questions that must be answered. Now, the goal is not to follow a layer line by line. The CV is a document that should look like you. A recruiter should be able to identify the part of your personality through this document. So don’t outsource its writing and don’t use your neighbor’s screen. However, there is some information that absolutely must be included in this document.

You must provide your detailed contact details . Surname, first name, age, date of birth, telephone number, email address… These data are important because they will simply allow the recruiter to contact you easily if your application suits him. For certain trades, indicating in this section whether you have a driving license can also be very important. Your training, previous professional career, and your skills , are generally the information that we want to find in the following sections.

Organize them as you wish . Just keep in mind that everything should be as readable as possible. The document should be airy, pleasant to look at and read, and ideally the CV should fit on one page. It’s not your brief that you write, so keep it short and to the point. The ideal is to adapt the content of your CV according to the offer to which you are responding , in such a way as to match your profile as closely as possible to the potential expectations of the recruiter.

Depending on the position, you can choose to list your human qualities in your CV. This is a section that is not found on quite a few CVs, but which can be a real asset to your application. But what is a human quality? Human quality is what characterizes you as an individual on a daily basis, it is your character . The difficulty of this section is to find qualifiers. Difficult to judge yourself while remaining objective. The easiest way is to conduct a little survey of your loved ones, asking them to define you in a few adjectives .

qualités humaines à mettre en avant dans votre CV

If no one thinks the same of you, you won’t be well advanced, but in most cases some adjectives are recurrent. Personality tests can also help you define yourself in a few words. Select those that are to your advantage and that you feel are relevant to an application. Avoid falling into the mundane (serious, punctual, kind …), this would not be of real interest to the recruiter. Try to select qualities related to the position targeted, which the recruiter sees in you as having real potential.

Human qualities should occupy little space on the total volume of your CV . Keep in mind that the ideal is to keep everything on one page. So where do you add an additional section? It is best to present your qualities in the form of a short sentence: “dynamic, creative and motivated” …

You can choose to have these qualities appear as a subtitle of your CV, under your contact details, or even by creating a human qualities section. The goal being to stand out from other candidates, whatever the solution chosen, make sure that this element is clearly visible on your CV. At a glance, a recruiter should be able to distinguish the key information that you have decided to highlight, so bring out the human qualities.

The addition of a human qualities section can be very appreciated by a recruiter. It is therefore really worth looking into the subject, even if it can be difficult to broach. Get help from your loved ones and use this section to showcase yourself. At the risk of opening doors open, no negative sounding terms should of course appear. “Honest” is a quality, but “too honest” for once, would be a flaw!
